Possible solution to my reception problems at home?

Okay, so my issue is at home I must be on the edge of two different towers. The one supplying 3G, the other 1x(says extended network, not Verizon). They are constantly going back and forth and it gets frustrating at times. I would rather have 3G even if it's on one bar at times than have only 1-2 bars anyway of 1x. I have been searching online for a way to lock in to the 3G network so that it won't be jumping so much. I haven't found anything helpful, however, I came across this code that I think might help but i need some insight from someone who understands CDMA better than I do. I came from years of GSM with T-Mobile so I understand that much better.

This code is *#*#4636#*#* ...when the window comes up, if u go to "Phone Info" you can scroll down to "Set preferred network type:" and choose from a bunch of options. When I select "EvDo only" it stays on 3G but with no bars, when I go back to "CDMA auto (PRL)", which is what it was on originally, then it goes to 3G with 3 bars but still will bounce to 1x at times. There are other options, but like I said I don't know much in regards to CDMA networks so I could use some help from someone who understands this much better. I would just like to have the option to stay on 3G when at home so it doesn't jump back and forth for frustrating connection issues and poor battery performance. If anyone can explore a little and let me know if I have a good option to this problem I have at home, please let me know and thanx in advance.

You can try *228 option 2, not sure if it will help but it may, it's supposed to update your tower selection

Thanx, but yes I have tried that. I did a hard reset when updating to Froyo, infact 2 times right after installing Froyo. I also do the *228 about every 2-3 weeks and it never has improved my situation. I only have this problem at home, bc like i said I probably live on the edge of 2 towers. But i always get the most signal with 3G, except when 1x takes over. That's why I'd like to have the option to have to phone only receive 3G when I'm home.

Well that actually made the situation worse, it stays on 1x with 1 bar but verizon tower, not extended network. Goes to 3G and then jumps back to 1x more often so it's actually made the problem worse. Seems to stay on Verizon network now tho, and not go to extended network but still jumps between 3G and 1x with Verizon. Not sure why it has to do that if it's using the same tower, you'd think it would just hang on to the 3G more consistantly. I think if I know which option to select under the *#*#6436#*#* >Phone Info. >Set preferred network type: then I could maybe stay locked on to 3G while at home and then just switch it back to the original setting whenever I leave home.

Not sure if we can flash different radios on the DX but I flashed a few on my old Eris. Maybe try looking into that.

It turns your roaming capability off so your phone will only run off of Verizon towers. Or atleast it is suposed to
