Thanks Nemo. It worked. I used the Droid 3 bat, but it got stuck. I found a forum that helped:
PROGRAM STATES:
"Running exploit part 1 of 3. Server not running"
PHONE STATES:
Bootloader 30.04
Battery OK
Connection USB
This is where the Droid X begins to restart but "paused" or as people otherwise state, is "stuck"
{KEY STEP}:
i)Unplugged the phone from the USB data cable
ii)Turn Phone off (Simple one-press of Power Button)
iii)wait 10 seconds - Restart the phone (Long-press of power button)
iv)As the phone displays the Red "M" plug in the data cable again.
Let the phone restart and when the phone starts up it will then go thru the same process:
"RUNNING EXPLOIT PART 2 OF 3. SERVER NOT RUNNING"
Do the same {KEY STEP} for Part 2 of 3
The phone will restart again and the next output on the program will tell you if you did or DID NOT Root successfully. If you do not get the same root as me see if your OS matches mine. Best of luck!

I use to use z4root and it was great but my phone broke so i got my insurance replacement and updated and tried to z4root now (not the new update that just came out) and have not been able to successfully root my phone. One time it did seem to work but when i tried using root only apps they would say my phone is not rooted or unable to find root. Please advice im not a pro with my Android but if guided towards the right direction im sure i could.

That z4 only works on froyo but since your on gingerbread you can root using the d3 one click root or zergrush. Either will work, here's a link with instructions/video on rooting using either method GB.602! ROOT! Start here! Links to all Ninja'd by jwalz!

I have been delaying the Droid X update for quite a long time now haha... I was scared I couldn't reroot... I'd heard many people couldn't. I am running Android 2.2.1, System 2.3.340.MB810. My phone is so slow now and the battery is crap so I'm ordering a new/better battery, writing down my favorite apps (duh, wifi) and going to wipe my phone out (I never backed it up... argh)... hopefully when I do I will be able to re install my apps, update it and reroot it. Any foreseeable problems with my plan? Listing any steps I need to take in specific order and of course links to root would all be appreciated! Thanks!

no... there shouldn't be a problem.. imo... the best route.. is to sbf to 602... so you have a completely clean slate to root from there
