I have noticed that every case has space for a round hole just to the right of the speaker on the back of the Droid X. Does anyone know what this hole was for or why it was ommitted in release version of the phone?

Its one of the three microphones on the phone.
Used for either noise cancellation and/or videos.
No, I am not talking about the microphone. There are 3 microphones on the phone. Look at the picture. There is another hole to the right of the speaker that is in all of the pictures, but not on the production model.
Interesting
The loud speaker also seems longer too...

My best guess is that it might be a subwoofer or some other type of louder speaker. It is likely the FCC wouldn't allow it or maybe the electronics wouldn't fit. It reminds me of a case I have for my iPod Touch that has a hole for the camera that Apple never put in the production version.
My other thought is it could be a different kind of microphone for the video camera.

The case manufacturers all designed their cases around the leaked pictures which had a little circle there. Same reason the ipod touch third generation cases had camera holes.
My case doesn't have that hole
