    Droid will not turn on....

When I push the On button, all i get is the "M" symbol for a few seconds and then it goes out and the screen is black...

The phone will ring when i get a call, but the screen stays black, so i can not answer the phone.

    thoughts?

    thanks

Have you attempted a battery pull / reboot and what is / was the charge of your battery?

Failure isn't falling down, failure is staying down.

I would suggest the battery-pull option as well. Had something similar happen just after the Froyo 2.2 update and that fixed it up.

I exactly had same problem. What I did is, removed the battery, removed the SD card and placed my phone in charging(not USB, must be wall charger) and waited for "M"(should be big F) symbol to appear. Then place the battery(don't remove from wall charger) and you should see "charging battery" animation. Now restart the phone(don't put SD card in and don't remove from wall charger) and it should start normally.

I tried to put SD card in and it didn't work for me, so I went to Verizon store and asked for replacement and it is on it's way and I should get it on Monday.

I haven't tried to dig into root problem but should be doing this weekend. I'll keep posting on this!

Hope same steps may work for you.

I have had the same problem, and found this solution. It works like a charm for me. Be sure to follow the instructions exactly:

    Instructions…
    1. Turn your phone off.
    2. Hold down “Home” and press “Power” until the Motorola logo appears.
    3. Release ”Power” and continue to hold “Home” until an exclamation appears.
    4. Release “Home” and press the “Search” button once.
    5. Your phone will now enter recovery.
To get out of it, simply use your volume up and down buttons until “reboot system now” is highlighted and then press the camera button. Your Droid will reboot and all will be well with the world.
