Ex-Blackberry Users Pls Sound Off!
My X is coming on Monday but i would like to hear from all ex-blackberry
users on their thoughts on switching over to the X
.
In particular, here are some questions that i'm dying to know from former BB to X users:
(1). POP Email:
I dont use coporate exchange but rely heavily on 3-4 different POP accounts (all 1and1 hosting to be exact). My BB storm (sucked in a lot of areas) but it had no problem in pulling emails from all my POP accounts instantly. How is the X in dealing with pushing email from POP accounts?
(2). Email LED Notifications:
I'm used to having the green LED for normal status and red LED when an email/SMS etc.. arrives. How does the X LED status work? Is it different colors to notify different things?
(3). Blackberry Button: I love the multi-function purpose of the Blackberry logo button as it gives various options while you are in an email. Practically anything you wanted to do with the email could be found within this menu. Does the X have something like this?
(4). Cut, Copy and Paste: Any heavy email user knows the importance of cut, copy and paste functionality. How is the X with this?
(5). MS Outlook Sync: Majority of BB users rely heavily on Outlook for calendering, contacts etc... and of course BB's are famous for the ease of sync with Outlook through the BB desktop client. I've read some unflattering comments on the forums, and want to know if this really a big problem on the X or not.
Thanks everyone!

Perfect, Moto incorporated a universal mail box to be similar like the BB's or you can view them individually.
(2). Email LED Notifications:

You can install K-9 Mail App and you can set what color your want each email address to show when you get a new message. Further an App called "Missed Call" can change the LED color for many things such as SMS's Calls, Calendar.. ect check it out.
(3). Blackberry Button: I love the multi-function purpose of the Blackberry logo button as it gives various options while you are in an email. Practically anything you wanted to do with the email could be found within this menu. Does the X have something like this?
There is a menu button, and anything you need is already laid out in the app or menu button.
(4). Cut, Copy and Paste: Any heavy email user knows the importance of cut, copy and paste functionality. How is the X with this?
eh, this is a problem with the Stock Mail client and I believe K-9 as well cant, BB has very powerful copy and past options which basically can be used on any text that is displayed, on android only certian things can be copy and pasted. I believe in Froyo they are adding some more copy and paste support
(5). MS Outlook Sync: Majority of BB users rely heavily on Outlook for calendering, contacts etc... and of course BB's are famous for the ease of sync with Outlook through the BB desktop client. I am not sure of a outlook sync app for the X or any android devices, and with an android phone everything is synced with Googles, Calendar, contacts..ect BUT you can install google sync into Outlook and sync all your calendar appointment as well as contacts with google
I hope this helped

I think the inline replies really help show what he's replying to, without requiring him to make a bunch of quote blocks, but that's me.
Missed Call for Android 2.x looks like it might be just the ticket, thanks! I've been missing BerryBuzz and BerryWeather. Still need to find a find a real weather app.

In regards to your Q5 - I sync my outlook thru gSyncIt which is a software that allows you to sync (calendar / contacts / notes) both ways (outlook to google & vice versa). It is easy to setup and get started. I downloaded the software for gSyncIt when I got my Droid in last November and I have not had any issues with the syncing. I have switched to the X and yep you guessed it, it is still syncing/working perfectly.

X Lurker
My storm 2 was returned on a warranty issue. Best buy no longer carries the storm 2 so I opted for the droid x after waiting a month for the incredible to arrive (it never did arrive best buys not selling them right now due to not being able to get them on a regular basis) I really like the droid x, big screen, lots of cool features that I actually use. I had an iphone before the storm. It was pretty cool at first but I got tired of apples control issues. The only things I really miss from my blackberry is blackberry messenger, battery life, and speaker volume. I work in construcion so its nice to have some music playing the droid does ok, i mean im not expecting it to replace a radio in any shape or form. I normally keep my phone in my pocket while its playing music, its kinda hard to hear sometimes.

They only thing I will REALLY miss is BBM because I have a group on there dedicated to my car which is Very helpful, but I think I will survive

I will have to agree with you there. While I am extremely happy with my Droid X (and to be honest, am ridiculously tired of the people who are trying their hardest to discredit it), I will miss BBM. I have unlimited texting, so I am not worried about it all that much, I suppose.
Does anyone know of any IM programs that interpret the smilies used by BBM? I like the smilies, and my wife still uses her BBStorm.
