Can anyone tell me if google voice uses minutes even if it is still a verizon to verizon call since it is essentially a middle man?
And do incoming text messages count as texts received, or still just data?
I can't see myself using this if all of a sudden I lose all my "IN" free minutes and texts because my bill will go through the roof!

I believe it uses minutes because it "calls" the Google server and reroutes through there. The only benefit, imo, is for international calling.
As for text messages, I *believe* it counts as data. My friend switched to Google Voice for text messaging because he doesn't have unlimited and didn't want to pay for it.
Best bet: go to your Verizon webpage and jot down your minutes and text messages. Then, for a day, use Google Voice for calls and text, and check it the next day. That way you'll know for sure
Texts count as data. What I would like to know however is why GV requires data to make a call even though it uses minutes and therefor I am assuming a voice connection.
