Profiles - Vibrate, Sound On, etc - How can you apply it to all notifications?

I had this problem with my Droid 1 which I had to use the Missed Call app feature for.
I'm wondering if I need to do the same with the X.

Basically, I'm still stuck in the era with the older cell phone profiles where when you choose the Vibrate profile, EVERYTHING will vibrate - a text message, a phone call, event, etc. Same when you switch to the Sound On profile.

With these Droids, with each function having it's own notifications, how do you 'apply all' when you switch to let's say Vibrate mode? It's not possible huh?

Not sure if I'm making myself clear, here's an example. Say I choose a certain notification tone for txt messages. If I switch my mode to Vibrate, my texts will still alert me using that tone outloud. It will not know to Vibrate instead.

Anyone else in this predicament? or do I have to use Missed Call again on the X?

Not sure if I understand you correctly, but if you go to Text Messaging the go into settings you can turn the vibrate on or off (that applies to just text messages). you can do the same with your phone ringtone. When someone calls you can make it vibrate + ring, vibrate no ringtone, or just ring and no vibrate.

    Am I understanding you correctly?

No..I'm saying when I want all Sounds, I want everything to alert me using sounds - my calls, my texts, etc. If all of a sudden I go into a meeting and switch my mode to Vibrate, my texts will still sound an alert b/c that's the tone I chose for my texts. It's not smart enough to know that I switched it to Vibrate, so it should just vibrate. I shouldn't have to go into my Text Settings and choose Vibrate separately.
Is that any clearer? Sorry for the confusion. Hard to type what I'm trying to say.

Are you using the volume buttons on the right side of the phone to put it on vibrate? When I do that my text no longer make a sound, it just vibrates.

I used Beautiful Widgets and used that to turn Vibrate on and off. It worked fine. You must be missing something.

hmm..and you had a certain Ringtone set for your Text Notifications? So when you turned on Vibrate, your Texts would vibrate also?
