Has anyone used the DNLA feature yet? If so how does it work? Is it slow? Is it not worth using because of battery drain??? Does anyone enjoy this feature????

I've used the DLNA feature to stream music from my phone to my PS3. I haven't noticed extravagant battery usage, but I usually run it while hosting social gatherings, and more important things are on my mind (like delicious beer). I have also used it to stream a movie from PS3 Media Server to my phone. Unfortunately, though PS3MS transcodes video on the fly, AVI files will not stream for me. I can only get MP4 files to stream to my phone. The framerate was fine; I had no stuttering. This was a standard-def full-length movie. I didn't watch the whole thing though, just wanted to test it. I confess to being a bit disappointed that I can't stream music apps like Pandora or Grooveshark through DLNA to my PS3, but maybe I just don't know enough about it yet!
Droid X is my first smartphone ever...after three dumbphones, android is a refreshing breath of air!
Check out my LauncherPro icons! Cuedup @ LauncherPro
Feel free to PM me requests or suggestions as well...I will try to get to them as soon as I can!
I can only imagine that if you are successful at getting it to work it would be a huge batter hog.
My only interest was brief and what i wanted was to stream movies from my media server (or other source's) which turned out to be a big FAIL.
The best I could do was DLNA wanted to download the video before playing or the movie player could not play the file.
All I really cared about with media streaming on the X was Slingplayer so i did not really pursue getting DLNA to work.
I used it to copy a few songs on to my phone just to see how it worked. It transferred them fairly quickly, and updated a list of almost 500 different artists in less than a minute (You get the list, then pick what songs from that list).. I should have looked at how long it took to get the entire song list (almost 8000 songs) just to gauge speed times. It did do a partial list tho that you had to select "see more" or something similar.
I like it. I have a samsung ln55B650 and it is DLNA. I was able to get my DX, tv, and pc linked up. Now I can play media in any combination on any device, ie: play movies off my DX on the tv or use my DX as a remote control to select media off my pc to play on my tv. It works pretty slick for me. Only problem I'm having right now is getting my music library to show up on my DX. Right no it just says "locating.." or something, as if the list is too big to download (75gb of music). Not sure what is up. Anyone?
Wow thanks for the information everyone! it was greatly appreciated i will use it when i get an extended bat. but for now i will just wait...
