    RED battery pull tab

So this may seem like a small detail but something is different with my DX and I'm not sure it's only skin deep. I just received 5 units (to add to the first one I used for testing with Exchange), set one up for myself and noticed that the battery pull tab was RED. The first one I set up a few weeks ago was yellow but figured it was just a supply thing like I see in most electronics. So the phone is set up and I'm going through alerts and tones and I notice that there are several stock ring-tones that were not on the last one - specifically several that start with DROID. I just checked the other 4 and they all have yellow pull tabs. On a whim I weighed them on a professional digital scale (happen to have one near my desk) and found that all the yellow tab ones are within a few thousandths of a gram but the red one is 2 tenths lighter. All say MADE IN CHINA 35/10 and are marked HW A. Is this just another plant making these now or is something odd about my red tab X?

I just noticed something that coincides with one of the things you mentioned. My current DX (a replacement) doesn't have all the notification ringtones as my original DX (which I got on launch day). The ones that I notice are the new ones that start with DROID.

I have the mustard yellow/gold battery pull tab in my phone, and IIRC, my originaly one from launch day also had a yellow pull tab, but had the extra DROID ringtones.

I never intended on using those, so that's no big deal if that's the only difference, but now I'm curious as to why they're not on my replacement phone...

Right, it's not that the tones themselves matter but the fact that something is different and I want to know why.

Have you noticed any other differences between the phones? I obviously had to send my original phone back when my replacement came so I couldn't do a side-by-side comparison (believe me, I would have) between the two.

have not been able to do a side-by-side yet, the other phones are for executives and replacing their existing phones - once I activate their DX it will kill their existing phone. I will have some "setup time" later with at least one. Also just found out that my girlfriend just received her DX today - yellow tab, no DROID tones...

    A few things....

Mine has the yellow tab, and has a few DROID tones....

Also, when you activate one and it deactivates another, you could always swipe around the corners of the screen to use the phone without network access... Just start from the top left corner, the top right, down to the bottom right, then slide to the bottom left. Do this while you are on the "Welcome to Droid. Touch the android to begin" screen.

Here's a link with more precise instructions:

Let us know what you find out! (Try running Quadrant on it or something. See if the performance is better...) Maybe see if the audio is any different. That would be a HUGE change!

Soooo I was wrong about mine missing notification tones. The ones I was thinking of were for the Android phone ringtones, not the stock notification tones. I opened up the phone ringtones and found my "missing" DROID sounds. I have DROID Incoming call, DROID Invasion, DROID Rollin, DROID Speaks, DROID Test Lab, and DroidX.

I remember that my original DX had these as well. Looks like I have a yellow battery pull tab phone with all the DROID tones after all.

I'm still interested in seeing if you notice any other differences between the red pull tab and yellow pull tab units though!

As per Droid-Life, Motorola changed the yellow "Pull" tab, to the new red "Battery Release" tab to make its use more clear.

Ok, that makes sense now. Just funny that I'm the only one to get one in my social circle or workplace so far. . . and I really don't even want an android phone (have to support them so have to have one).
