For no reason that I can discern, my DX randomly blurts out "Verizon Wireless."
Can anyone tell me why? More importantly, can this be disabled?
Thanks all!

Yes it can - it is the the roaming tone...phone settings (homescreen, hard menu key), sound settings, scroll down and uncheck network lost tone and roaming tone if they are checked...
Failure isn't falling down, failure is staying down.
Does that mean when you hear the "Verizon Wireless" when making a call, it is roaming? If so, my phone is roaming A LOT.

I get audible "Verizon Wireless" when my calls connect. The "call connect" radio button is not checked.![]()

"call connect" "roaming" and "network lost" are all unchecked.
What is your notification sound - specific ringtone or something there that says VZW?
**EDIT** I should be more specific - towards the top of the sound settings menu - what is the ringtone set for notification sound?

Notification is "sonar" for email, text message, etc.
If you have everything unchecked and the actual ringtone notification is something different - I would consider doing a battery pull / restart of the phone to see if it takes effect that way.
