    Maps on Droid X

    I download a map for use offline and it is there for, lets say weeks, and then they need to be redownloaded...why can't I keep these...this phone is not rooted because I'm afraid of not having the phone due to disaster...so...bolster my confidence and help with maps...thanks from Robert of Cow Hill, Vermont....

    i haven't used google maps much offline, sounds like they are expiring after a certain time like 14- 30 days.
    I would try a non google map app, there are several offline map and navigation apps
    Navfree USA: Free Satnav
    Sygic: GPS Navigation
    osmand
    skobblers

    Thank you, I have gone OsmAnd maps for now...does my droid X have a gps...I check the stand alone gps but never connect...something is missing in my method...this is fun...

    could be a hardware issue, here are some threads on that.
    I fixed my GPS after 9 months not working. This is how.

    could be a software issue try a hard reset or flash the 621 sbf
    Hard Reset via Android Recovery-

    DX (MB810) ezSBF & Root 2.3.4/4.5.621
    or
    Using RSD Lite to flash a .SBF to restore (Stock Rom)

    New problem with Google Maps and OsmAnd Maps...neither will scroll along to keep up with the "you are here" marker...must move by hand and that is a distraction while driving...HELP...and thank you for being there again...

    got the gps working just fine...duh...turn off the airplane mode....gps works faster than my Magellon gps....

    if you are not using cdma (verizon), you might be able to turn off radio with
    dial *#*#4636#*#*
    phone info
    turn of radio
    gps should still work
