LED Light Notification - Disable at night? (When using Multimedia Dock)

I use the Droid X Multimedia Dock, which is on my nightstand. I have an app that controls the sounds based on a timeframe (Silent Sleep ...actually looking for a different app that still allows incoming phone calls for select people). I mainly use the dock for charging overnight and the alarm clock.

The problem I have is when receiving email (yahoo, gmail, etc.) the Droid X LED notification light blinks which is bright enough to sleeping sometimes difficult. I usually force the display to sleep because the dim setting for the dock app is not dim enough.....but, by doing that the LED will now go off when email comes in.

I'm looking to either disable the LED light automatically during a certain timeframe or manually disable it with a toggle .......and/or an app that will control the screen brightness so I can turn it down more than the default that the multimedia dock sets it to.

Anyone know of an application that can achieve the desired result? .....I'm looking for an app or toggle to either manage manually or automatically based on timeframe (free or paid....doesn't matter) ...not interested in turning phone off, placing screen face down (I'm using the multimedia dock) or using black electrical tape over the light.

Possibly check into Tasker (app available in the market) - you might be able to set a specific profile based on time to disable LED and dim screen....

I did a little more searching in the market using many keywords ....( I hope 2.2 is better than 2.1 when it comes to searching on the Market).


I found an app everything I was looking for:

• No LED notifications (phone is not in sleep mode)
• Android default alarm clock use through this app
• Dimmable screen (...font and color change too)
• Phone on silent mode except for certain phone callers you customize in a whitelist
• App becomes a start option when docking with Droid X Multimedia Dock.
• minimal cost
• Developer still actively updating app

Profile Manager is another...you can set it to turn various things off at certain times...(sort of like a BlackBerry)....(and what should be standard!)

Folks - I looked into this thread because I found it annoying that I could not turn off the LED when used as a bedside "clock radio". After contemplating putting a rubber band over the top of my phone and covering up the LED - something dawned on me. While there was no specific Notification setting for the LED - there were only ones for turning on/off Status bar notifications, ringtone, vibrate. But for some reason - Status bar notifications are tied to the LED blink feature. I guess this is to tell you that you have a notification on your status bar even if the screen is off. So - turn off the status bar notification and you will turn off the LED. Now I am just puzzled why designers/coders just don't make the LED a separate notification method. I am going to try both above though - then I don't have to mess with all the places this has to be turned off. Just thought I would pay forward for those who want a solution that didn't require another application.

KInda hard to do when you use the dock. I usually just turn the dock to face away from me so the blinking doesn't bother me.

I also have the dock and am rooted. I went as far as editing the BlurEmailEngine.apk to turn off the led only. I use another app to turn off notification sounds at night. Some dumbass didnt tie the email app into reacting to turning off the background data. Way to go moto.

This app does not disable the LED... Cost me $1.79 to figure that out for sure.

It doesn't advertise that it does and the developer just confirmed it.

Profile manager nor tasker will disable the LED either. I could have been programming tasker wrong but there is no task for "led off". You can slow it waaayyyy down though but even that didn't work for me.

Anyone else have any luck turning off this 100W floodlight WITHOUT rooting? Why is this so hard?!
