confirmed by me, the original 1FF-p3a_shadow_cdma_shadow-user-2.3.4-4.5.1_57_DX8-51-120111-test-keys-signed-Verizon-US.sbf
works, and restores phone back to

    System Version: 4.5.621.MB810.Verizon.en.US
    Baseband Version: BP_C_01.09.15P
    Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-g1282440 mcbk83@il93lnxdroid08 #1
    Build Number: 4.5.1_57_DX8-51

    so no worries

Ok, this has already downloaded onto my mom's phone. Can I still rename the updater apps to block it from installing?

Nvm, went into cache and deleted the update files. Renamed the update apk and odex and wiped the cache partition in CWM just in case. All is well for anyone else having to deal with an already downloaded update. Will flashing the nandroid backup cause her phone to lose anything? I'd like to give her the added security of the masterkey patch, but she doesn't want to lose anything, lol.

if you use the advanced restore options, and just restore the system, nothing should be lost.

I'd like to give her the added security of the masterkey patch,
it's really only a problem when installing apps from sources, other than play store.

    edit:
but she doesn't want to lose anything, lol.
nothing would have be lost, if update was allowed to install.
as long as all stock apps are installed, if stock apps have be frozen or removed, update will fail.

as always it's a good idea to create a nandroid first.

That's exactly why I didn't understand how to use nandroid first time - I didn't create any back-up so the clockworkmod/backup folder was missing completely. After that this update worked fine... And I restored my apps from the other (first) backup folder using 'advanced' recovery.
