I have had my X for almost two years now. Bought it 'used' and have been using it on Page Plus.

It's gotten slow (or maybe I just need faster device now) over the time I've had it, so I've looked into some of the newer devices. I just now got around to rooting my phone, freezing some of the Verizon stuff, and getting a couple of other apps to try and improve performance. I'd like to keep the phone fairly stock, but lighten it up (software wise) and speed it up a bit performance wise.

Besides, at least with this phone you can replace the battery.

Driod X is still an excellentl 3G Smart Phone. Replacement not needed yet.

Was checking out new smart phones (what else?!) available through Verizon because I thought my Droid X camera was broken and that is was perhaps a "sign" that the entire phone was about to fail. My conclusion: The Droid X was cutting edge when introduced and it still compares favorably to the newest smart phones except that it lacks 4G.
Yet where I live the 3G is fast enough for my needs. I just now checked my Droid X using "SpeedTest.net" and have:
Ping 36 ms, Download 6508 kbps, Upload 2750 kbps.
Assuming my Droid was failing I was interested in the Droid 4 because of the physical keyboard or the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. However neither has a removable battery which is important to me. While walking and using my Droid X for example I tuck a spare battery in my back pocket. This allows me to completely disregard any charging schedule requirements and free of anxiety about the state of charge.
Am keeping my Droid X and have a big smile because Droid X Forum allowed me to fix my camera with a simple adjustment of "settings."

Not quite correct: The Note 2 does have a removable battery. It's a whopping 3100 mAh, too.

Nice. How was it getting use to a bigger phone? Is one handed texting possible? And, does it fit in your front pocket comfortably?

I can hold it fine in one hand and it fits in my pocket. It's got the new Swype version on it, for quick typing.

I got the Verizon cover/kickstand thing, but I'm going to look at other cases from Amazon since I've got a couple gift cards.

Yeah, it's nice. I can play games on it for a lot longer, too. Not long after taking that SS, I played Tiny Tower long enough that my DX would have been drained and then some. It only took me down from that 64 to barely under 50%.
