SVTP lite app for Droid X

I downloaded the SVTP lite app for a mobile hotspot however got this snarky message from Verizon saying I had to use their app for $20 a month. Is there any way of getting around this or am I locked into using Verizon's app? A friend has another make of phone with Verizon and has no problems.

Are you rooted/rom'd? Unless you get clockworkmods rootless tether you have to be rooted to get tethering for free

I'll have to make a decision if I want to root the phone. It'll mostly depend on how close I am to the end of my contract I guess. I'm thinking that maybe freezing the Verizon app would allow SVTP to work?

In order to freeze your gonna have to root. And if your gonna root you may as well use the other one

All free WIFI tethering on the DX requires root. Even non-root designed apps like FoxFi dont work due to the VZW blocks on our specific phone.
