rooting doesn't void warranty?

i know this has been the topic of allot discussion... and much dismay... but browsing over at xda... i came across an interesting arcticle/video...

talking about how we(atleast in the u.s.) have this magnuson-moss warranty act... and it actually provides us with some reassurance that we keep it even threw rooting...
granted... this just makes things how they should be... we can root our devices and still have warrant... and if we break our devices... then we're responsible for that

Listen to what he says, he states Magnuson-Moss act is part of Title 50 of United States Code. Maybe I worked too damn long in Federal Law Enforcment, but I sure did note that immediatly upon hearing it and at that point I figure the guy might be a great developer but a terrible lawyer. USC Title 50 is WAR AND NATIONAL DEFENSE and there is no chapter 50 (or at least there wasn't a chapter 50 when I retired). Look it up and tell me I'm wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, how smart is he really, when he cannot even note the correct number of the United States Code?

As for the Magnuson-Moss act, he may be correct, but remember one thing, if the company that offers the warranty can prove that you did something wrong when you rooted the phone and that caused a software problem, then the warranthy on the software can be void. And yes, it can be up to that company to prove it IN COURT. But it is up to you to push the matter to court. And, you will do this for a 200 buck phone? Yep!

Well honestly it was a matter of hardware damage and them not fixing it because its rooted.

99.9% (if not all) of the software problems can be fixed with a SBF.

Interestingly enough, I am very familiar with this act from a past life, this is a great application of it. For many years I worked in a 12V car audio shop that specialized in custom alarms and remote starts. We quoted this act frequently in situations where dealerships tried to blame us and it WAS NOT our fault. Granted, we were doing clean work and could prove beyond doubt that it wasnt our fault also. In this application I guess it is kinda similar. flashing a rom is never gonna kill our headphone jack for example, I would always expect coverage there.
