Do you use a laptop? The phone will replace most of the tasks for your lappy
That's wat I thought and my dad. But between email checking, web browsing, music streaming (Pandora radio), and YouTube vids you'll use it. And you'll soon be an smart phone/Droid addict like all of us. Lol

If you get your phone tomorrow, you have 30 days - play with it, give it a chance, enjoy it...you will know if it is for you or not...
If you get stumped and need help, ask questions...the only thing we cannot do is make the decision for you...
I think you will be pleasantly surprised with what the phone can and will do for ya...good luck!!

Once you see it, it'll change you, the extra $30 in reality $1.00 a day, less than a cup of coffee for everything the beast can do!
I have to admit stabbedintheface I took a trip to my corporate headquarters last month and didn't bother taking my laptop but I had my D1. It didn't completely replace the laptop but it did everything I needed to have done for 2 days.

That's a good way to break it down! I never really thought of it like that before!
But I agree with smalltowngirl. Try it out for the first 30 days, if you like it, awesome! If not, you can return it, get something else that suits your needs better, and I'm sure they will drop the $30 data plan if you ask them to.
I intend to live forever. So far so good.
Before getting my D1 I balked at the thought of paying that extra $30 for the data plan. Now eight months later the thought it being without a smart phone does not even register in my mind. It has brought so much convenience to my life that the extra money is money well spent IMO. Give it the thirty days and see for yourself.
A lot of people express the same concerns prior to having a smartphone, but few still feel the same way after a few months of usage. My wife, mom, and sister are batting 3/3 on this front after following me into the smartphone world (they have iPhones, but still same concept).
I doubt Verizon will drop the "required" data plan with the DX. If you want the phone you will pay the $30 a month just like the rest of us. However, once you get this gem of a device in your hands you most likely will not let it go. The DX will sell itself. It is that good. Your only worry after getting your phone will be how to get enough sleep for the next three weeks since there is so much customizing that will need your attention. Congrats on your phone.... you will love it.
