Looking for a good speed camera alert solution

Is there an app that :
    1. Can be used either instead of or together with Google Navigator on my Droid X
    2. Has a good database of camera locations in the Washington, DC - Baltimore metro areas

Alternatively, if I have a POI camera location collection, can I add it as a layer to Google Navigator?

    Thanks!

Check out Trapster Speed Trap Sharing System - Trapster

I've been using this for a year & it's been pretty reliable for alerts of red light cameras, fixed speed cameras, mobile speed cameras, live police, & "known enforcement points" (where cops are known to hide). It's a social app with nearly 15 million members who notify Trapster of what they have seen by clicking the Report box that sits in lower left corner of screen. From within Report you can choose what to report as I've shown in italics above. You can also choose the Reliability level of the alert; low/medium/high confidence & validated confidence (Trapster member alerts, not a guest alert that may not be true).

On this screen that appears on the Droid when Trapster is active, the left side shows the current speed limit and your current speed.

From settings (menu, settings) you can choose what you wish to be alerted of and how soon prior to the "alert" you want to hear the notification (.10 of a mile away up to 2 miles away). It will take some getting used to, if this interests you, and you can even select to receive email when there's an update in your selected area. I've seen many posts on Twitter the past 6 months about camera lights and their "right" to do what they do. This link should be of interest to your locale: Cameras will soon be catching speeding motorists on I-270 | WJLA.com

I'm not sure of integrating this to Google Navigator, Trapster may have to run independently (although I have not looked into this so I can't confirm/deny this being available). It can be set to run in the background so as not to block whatever else you'd like to see on your phone's screen (ie Google Navigator)

Maybe you'll like this, maybe you won't, it's your call to look into it. Typically I run this in the background, in addition to the alerts I get from my Garmin Nuvi, two running at once beats one not being up to date or having current info. Good luck whatever you choose to do...

+1. No need to worry about cops if we follow the speed limit and don't run red lights.

Actually sometimes you do have to worry about them and stay away from them as much as possible, especially those sneaky Bike cops who have to meet their monthly quota of tickets and will pull you over for going over 2mph the limit. It's best to avoid them especially during month end.

I know right. They will take your rights away and violate the 4th amendment. Even if you are no suspect in a crime...

I don't run red lights. As far as doing the speed limit, are you saying that going above speed limit is automatically unsafe? Speed cameras, at least where I live, are clearly about revenue generation and not safety.

Their "older" app was version 3.0. Here's the link to their new update, version 3.1.0 (as of 2/29/12) [Update] Trapster 3.1.0 for Android | Trapster Blog
