running vortex rc1 and love it. Was on apex with froyo and when I bounced over to apex ginger I had quite a few force closes. With vortex I have very few FCs and most are slacker radio related so it may be them not him. Vortex is what I call normal. If I put it on your phone you would still think you were running stock, and I like that because I was ok with stock if the FCs stopped. Just toss on adwex or go launcher and its all good.

Miui. Every other ROM looks like Stock Android to me. I like to be as far away from stock as i can be. Miui is the only Rom that's really changes the ui up.

I see it as 2 ways. single init and 2 init. You just cant compare the two.
1. Rubix Froyo
2. Liberty 2.0.1 Froyo
3. Apex GB
4. Liberty GB
5. SSX GB.

I have to say VorteX is my favorite, with the Droid Junk Tools added on for a bit more customization. VorteX is just like my newer Honda Civic, not fancy, has just the right amount of customization for my liking. Great on gas just like VorteX is on battery and it just works! Never have to worry about it not starting or breaking down on me & super reliable!

love apex . always fast, clean, glitch free
liberty added a new dimention with its toolbox.
liquid was a lot of fun (theme chooser)
the thought of ics on my dx facinated me (encountress,prologue) ics browser, soft button mod etc..
i'm curently on MIUI 2.2.5 options galore stable, smooth,yada yada yada.
