Insufficient storage to load apps
Hello,
I've been having a problem with my Droid X for a while now. Automatic updates to apps always worked well. Then they stopped happening automatically. When I attempt to manually update my current apps, I often receive an error message: "insufficient storage available".
Problem is I have a 32GB SD card and lots of space available. To verify I went to settings, applications, manage applications:
Downloaded tab: 445MB used & 6.1GB available. SD Card tab: 7.2GB used & 22 GB available. Running tab: 255MB available & 101MB free.
What could be causing this? Can it be resolved?
Thanks,
Steve

Try going to settings, applications, manage apps, all, market, uninstall updates. Then see if you're problem continues. The market update has given some people issues and uninstalling the update tends to alleviate the issue for a little bit.
Running with MIUI
Droid X powered by
MIUI or whatever rom is new and booting off of Boot Manager

I've got my SBF badge.

You can also try booting into recovery and wiping cache

I say do both uninstall "Market" updates and clear cache. This a well known issue with the Market app.
Are there any other behavior issues with your Droid X?
You shouldn't have the unavailable space problem. I installed over 900 apps at a time with no problems with space or running apps. Though after around 650/750 apps the device itself will have issues. I am currently staying under 600 apps at a time (currently 528 apps). I also re-flashed, actually flash an update (from 602 to 605), the custom ROM (ROM from Team Black Hat) that I use and my Droid X has been running very smoothly ever since.
PS - The one of problems I ran into with stability in the past is RAM (Random Access Memory) issues. The RAM in the Droid X is not large enough to handle the Android OS, current home launcher, widgets, live wallpaper, apps and background processes for power users' usage. Here is my earlier post on how I deal with the RAM issue.
My Quote:
"One of things I use is "AutoStarts" to choose what apps to run in the background, when to run (trigger) those apps in the background and which apps not to run in the background.
The main problem I run into with Droid X is the small RAM. If the RAM was 2gig then there would be no problem. But since the RAM is small then I need to control what and when to run the apps in the background. This way I can have as many apps that I want to use in my Droid X without crashing my Droid X.
Hint to the manufactures: Please add more RAM into future Android devices. At least 2gigs of RAM or more."
You must be rooted to use AutoStarts. Which is the reason that I have to be rooted on all of my Android devices at all times.
