In so far as I know, you will get a notification and all you have to do is click "download now".
BTW, how is the reception down there in Sierra Vista?
You will get a popup alerting you of an OTA update thats ready for download.
It is also recommended that your battery be fully charged (or close to it) and you be in a good service area (3G) or connected to wifi...

Yes, it can be on the charger and complete the update...I rec'd 2.2 on my D1 over the weekend and it only took 10 minutes or so from start to finish (pop-up box saying it was there, start download, download, restart)...I was in the city at the time so 3G service was good...had I been at my home, I would have completed wifi as service is not good there...LOL
