Anyone have a soft spot on their screen???

My droid has experienced the "oil slick" effect for the last couple of months, and has also had tremendously bad battery life (have to recharge several times a day). If I take the battery cover off the spot goes away. I realized the battery is just shot and has swelled, a new battery should fix the problem completely. A separate issue may occur if too much pressure it put on the phone. I once gripped the screen by the bottom to pull it out of the dock charger and squeezed too hard which caused a brighter area to appear, mostly only noticeable with a white background and it's still pretty faint, but I don't believe anything can be done to fix this. Just FYI for anyone else having these problems.
