Im sure this has been posted a thousand times by now. But anyway... I have the apk downloaded to root gingerbread, im hesitant to go ahead with the root. Do I have to uninstall my z4 root, superuser, wireless tether?? Or can I just install the new apk and everything will work out ok??? Any help would be appreciated.
what apk do you have?
the only way to root ginger bread is the one click method which needs a computer.... and it's a zip file with a couple of files...

I have Gingerbreak v1.2, followed a video on youtube to get the apk file.
what build are you running ota 596 or 602?
those builds wont be able to be rooted with gingerbreak

it should be something like 4.5.5.596... is the version number we're looking for...
or are you running the latest ota?

under system version it says 4.5.602.MB810.Verizon.en.US
The exploit used for Gingerbreak to work was patched, so it will not work on that version.

alright.. been so long since i've looked around on a stock rom... forgot it was system version... but anyway...
gingerbreak will not work on 602... you'll want to do the one click method...(it's really that easy)
