Don't have either one of those apps. I'm guessing that they're paid apps and/or services? (I'll be looking them up as soon as I post this, so no response necessary).

I see that some people are underclocking their phones as opposed to overclocking. Aside from the obvious power savings and increased battery life, are there other advantages to underclocking?

Oi...this is somewhat confusing. Multiple "click here for directions" to multiple pages, downloads, etc, just makes my head hurt after having had a Chem exam this morning (and toss in a glass or three of wine). There's got to be a simpler way to do this rather than factory resetting to 2.2, trying to root, then trying to update BACK to 2.3. Or am I making this harder than it should be?

@gbrinn: What exactly are you trying to do? It sounds like you are on OTA Gingerbread and want to get to rooted Gingerbread? Is that correct? If so, yes it's a bit involved, but shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to complete once you have downloaded the necessary files..

Yep. That's exactly it. I found a page on Droid Life that had everything in one location: Directions, download links etc. I followed it and somehow bricked the phone. I put on dxgbrooted.zip and when I tried to flash it, it kicked out saying the file was corrupted and then wouldn't boot past the Motorola "M". I've got it back up on 2.2 and going to re-install Bootstrapper and Z4 Root and try again.

Ok, those were old files from Droid life. Here is how to get from Froyo to rooted GB: ( best seen on computer)

Thanks, Mike. Guess I'll go find the Droid2 Bootstrap as he says NOT to use the DX version.
