I found this sticky thread helpful; but as a "newb" I was sometimes baffled by the use of so many unexplained acronyms. SBF comes to mind. I know what it is now, but what does it mean? Since this thread is directed at newb's it should assume that these acronyms are all Greek to us and should be accompanied by the phase they were created from; if they are to help those for whom this threat was created; so we wont keep asking the same questions over, and over, and over and over![]()
Thank you for this light reading!
I rooted my DX and 1st thing to do is perform a nandroid backup so I next installed... DroidX Bootstrap & Rom Manager.
Yes I see now that this thread says to install D2 Bootstrap.
Question#1 Can I just install the D2 bootstrap over the Dx Bootstrap ?
Also within Rom Manager when I select backup it asks which recovery I want to install with a list of choices...
Question#2 Which do I choose here.... DroidX or DroidX 2nd-Init?
I have been reading the differences and seems like I should be selecting 2nd-Init
DX OTA .605 build, now rooted.

You can use DX bootstrap, but D2 works better. I would uninstall DX if you are going to use D2. When updating the version it depends on what kind of rom you are on. For stock, you just want Droid X. If you install a 2nd init ROM choose the 2nd init version. (2nd init would be gummy, miui, CM7 or 9, etc)
edit: if you are going to stay on stock rooted, I don't think you need to update it. You probably won't need to update it until you install a rom.
Check out my themes:
Simple Sideways - MIUI lockscreen - Simple Sideways Dark - Touch of Green - Vortex RC1 - Christmas theme (in case you miss it) - Vortex RC1
Ok, uninstall the Dx Bootstrap and install the D2. I kinda like it when things run smoother.
Not planning on staying stock. Probably go with CM7 first go around.
(Was thinking of trying a few roms and seeing if any of them clear up my 2 year old problem and 3 different phones.
