custom notification ringtones not playing fully

I did a few searches with variations of the title as keywords, and got nothing, so sorry if this has been covered.

I've got some notification ringtones I used on my droid that I copied to the SD card of my X. They copied fine, they show up as options fine, but they don't fully play.

In the selection menu, when I tap on the different options, the preview it plays cuts off prematurely. Leaving it selected to see what would happen, emails started coming in and, sure enough, the notification sound cuts off.

These are not long tones; they're akin to what's included stock. And, as I said, they worked perfectly on my droid. Has anyone had this issue?
