Regarding Verizon Wireless.
I'd really like to have a Droid X, but I don't have much of a credit history. I've only had a bank account for 10 months, but I've kept it in good standing, and have never gone under 200 dollars. I don't really have any bills to speak of, aside from netflix, and gamefly. No Credit Cards.
Would it be safe to assume I'd be declined service from Verizon Wireless? I've tried everything to obtain "Credit" aside from saying "hey, mom, could I maybe pay a bill or two for the household in my name?"

As long as you don't have any bad credit, you'll probably be fine. And paying utilities is not reflected on your credit. You might want to sit down with your folks and have a talk about building your credit and learn what's what.

Credit is a slippery slope and you (and your parents) will want to be careful. Credit card companies are worse than drug pushers when it comes to trying to get new clients. They want to get you young and have you dependent on their bloated 20% interest accounts. My kids (both early 20's) get 5-6 credit applications a week. If you do get a card be sure to pay off the balance each month.
That being said - are you employed (I assume so or you wouldn't be looking for a phone plan that costs +$80 a month). Talk it over with your folks and tell them you want to start building a positive credit history. You may even suggest that they have monthly access to your statement so they can see that you are being responsible.

So are we assuming that your parents have no cell phones are just not with Verizon? You could try and convince them to go to Verizon, get the share plan, and pay your part of it, which would only end up being about 40$ with the unlimited data plan.
If you are trying to go on your own, even though you may not have bad credit, they may want some sort of insurance deposit up front. I guess just head on over there and ask these questions, but try not to get sucked into actually buying one just yet if they do need a security deposit up front.

How long would the security deposit be held for? I'm also saving up for another car, and more than 200 dollars is going to put a good dent in my progress so far...

I don't think you ever get it back, could be mistaken, I have always been on my parents plan, but i think after a while of on time monthly payments that probably credit your account with what you put down, I could be wrong, it could be more like an up front down payment and you never see it again...

It gets applied to your bill after the first year unless you request it back in cash.

Well, I went ahead and faxed them my "additional information" and they said I would have to make a 400 dollar security deposit, at which point I started to laugh at the guy on the phone. But I respectfully asked for him to cancel my order with them, and he also asked If I was interested in prepay, and I said no.
After the phone call, I went onto Verizon's site and looked at their prepaid options, and apparently the Droid X is available for their smartphone plans. Does anyone here use their prepaid plans with a Droid X, and what are the hidden charges and fees?
I'm considering this now that I found out the Droid X is available.

If your parents are willing to and or able to they can act as a co-signer to get the deposit waived

Short of wanting to be accused of trolling again, I can say that I use the X on prepay. There aren't (that I've seen yet) and hidden charges. As long as you pick your plan and bundles you need you should be okay. There are a few things going in i'd like to point out that I didn't know when I set it up.
1) You have to pay the first month when you buy your phone, which will be at full retail price.
2) When you get your plan, make sure you attach any text/data plan you want to the account
3) When you make a call, you will hear a "the time available for this call is-- stating how much time you have in your account-- Unless its a VZW-VZW plan
4) VZW my mobile on the X doesn't support prepaid-- the app that tracks data etc..
Other then that, everything else works the same
