was talking to a bud that works at local verizon store, and he said the x's day are numbered. i ask what he meant and he told me to look up the bionic which is due out in sept. so i looked it up thing is gunna be a beast but i wonder what price tag will be hanging off this "next big thing".

End Of Life is March for sales of the X. The Droid X2 will be out soon. The Bionic will be a 4G phone.

Too bad it looks like the X2 will be a yawn of an update model.

I personally am hoping the bionic turns out to be exactly what I will be looking for in my next toy.

DX- rooted, deodexed, strapped, OC'd, and themed how I like it.

Motorola will have to unlock the bootloader for many devs to stay working on them. More locked bootloaders=less devs working on them. I'll be switching up if Moto continues.

512 ram on the bionic will be its Achilles heel. But yeah, the X is old and the new kids are coming out. A year from now all phones will be dual core so we will be at that wrong end .

Good news is the success of X brought many more large screen phones (X was the only 4" one when I got it), so now there are choices.

I think you might as well start planning your next phone because Moto has no plans to even consider back tracking now. And if what they've done with the Atrix is any indication of what's to come from Moto, well the term 'you aint seen nothing yet' comes to mind. If you think the encrypted bootloader is a tough nut to crack just think how hard it's going to be to crack a signed system partition! I'll give you 10 to 1 that the Bionic is going to have the same system. Give this a read if you think I'm kidding.

Unfortunately the day you buy anything related to technology, it becomes out-dated. I'm happy with my X and will be for quite some time.

I will be staying with my DX for the duration of my contract at least so I won't be looking anytime too soon.
