What about if you get the extended battery? Do you need to do it again if you switch back to the normal battery?

usually its for when you upgrade to a new rom and your battery was not 100% when u changed to the rom... but as the other question i am not sure and would also like to know.... although i dont have the extended battery...lol
I would, it can't hurt anything and cleans out any memory...

There's no need to do any full discharge cycles. Wiping at 100% is all you need to do.
