Mine has been doing so and I haven't even had it for a month. Taking it back today and hopefully getting another one. Though I didn't go to a corporate store, I went to an authorized dealer.

How often is often? Most likely it is a conflict with some of your apps so you might want to do some troubleshooting before you return it. Is all your software up to date? Have you downloaded any apps outside of the Market? A few things I have noticed. Any resource hungry apps (like many games) have a better chance of freezing up. If you are in an area with sketchy 3G service, that will cause problems as will having a ton of widgets all updating regularly.
Mine would freeze/reboot every day or two before I rooted and made some other tweaks. Now it may freeze up once a week. Rebooting every day or two will help keep things running smoother too.
You will get better answers than mine as we have some real pro's on this site. Good luck!
Root And install a rom like liberty. See if that fixes your freeze problems
I had the same problem with freezing before I loaded a rom. When I had mine stock and root alone it used to lock up especially when people called. After I installed apex rom it has only happened maybe once in the past probably 45 days and that was after a long period without rebooting. I strongly recommend a rom.

ApeX will give me up times of over a week. And usually I reboot for other reasons not for stability issues. Maybe you have a bad phone. My buddy at work has a My Touch 4G, and went 2 months before rebooting on a stock kernel. Its usually hardware problems that cause instability.

I bought a Droid X at the beginnig of November and it finally froze up yesterday for the first time. Did a battery pull and it is now working fine.

DroidX
had mine since mid December and never had a problem... no freezeups, but yesterday and today it's restarted about 3 times by itself!
I installed WeatherBug 2 days ago... only thing that has changed. Going to uninstall and see if it reboots over the next few days.
Yah I bought mine Dec. 31 st and now it is self-rebooting and freezing. However, I conducted some research and found out it is a common problem. I am going to get a fascinate. Sure it has problems, but after doing some research it has less problems than the droid x.
That said, I appreciate all th help tha everyone has suggested wth roping and running a good rom. I love the droid x it is a great phone, it does have a lot more storage than the fascinate, but I hear that Moto is slow at solving problems.

Put a rom on the phone. It will solve reboot issues. I use apex and love it.
