    Emergency Calls

Page 12 of the X owner's manual says we should be able to make an "Emergency Call" to make a 911 call with the phone locked. It's shown below (picture taken from the "Rooted" news article on the home page. Does anyone know how to access this button?

that is if you haven't activated the phone yet. either dial 911, or i believe you can assign a shortcut (like press and hold 9 to dial 911)
    Respect is rule #1

Interesting. I wonder why this would be a feature for non-activated phones? Doesn't make sense to me.

I don't know the specific detailed explanation, but it is in place so that no matter what someone has access to emergency services should they need them. I keep my first Motorola from 2002 in my glovebox for this reason.

All cell phones are required to have access to dial 911 at any time.
No account with any carrier is required.

In the United States, the Federal Communications Commission requires all cell phones to retain the ability to dial 911, even if the phone does not have service. Free 911 services are available on analog and digital phones.

A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.
