E-mail issues

Alright, I have 2 google email accounts. This is where it gets kind of confusing. one is @gmail.com and the other is @muohio.edu. The school email is through something called MUConnect with google. Essentially it has its own google main log in screen, but looks and functions exactly like google mail. So, I had no problem setting up both accounts on the phone. But I am having issues getting them to display a notification for new mail.

Originally I had 2 google mail lable shortcuts on the desktop, one for each account. When I opened these they both worked and I was getting notifications in the top bar for new emails from both accounts. This has recently stopped. I re-did my entire setup with launcher pro recently so I am not sure if this has anything to do with it. I had to re add 2 google mail lables for the accounts. Now the e-mail account do not update unless I click on them and go to sync. Also, I can not access the email options. When I go to Settings -> Data Manager -> Data Delivery, E-mail and corp Sync option is unaccessible. When I go to the Messaging Application, go to settings, the Email option is also not accessible.

Does anyone know what is going on? It is like I am locked out of changing my e-mail options.

Update: I deleted my secondary gmail account. So now I only have the @gmail.com one on there. It is still not updating my e-mails and I can not get to the settings!1

I figured out that gmail is completely separate from the e-mail application on the phone. I now just have 2 gmail lables and they both update as long as I have the syncing tuend on (the arrows on the power strip). Maybe i'll give that app a try, is it free?
