mileage tracker/trip meter app by mobiles24 safe to load up?

speed was easy to load, but the phone blocked two apps that I found that might give me mileage:

Gps speedo 2.1 from mobiles24.com

and

sportypal

with both the droid x says it's "not from market", but leaves open an option to bypass, with ominous warnings of potential doom.

Anybody know if it's safe to load either of these, or if there's any other "safe" app that will give an accurate trip meter?

I have and use GPSspeedo. If its saying its not from the market, just go to menu > settings > applications. Check unknown sources.
