    To Root or Not To Root?

    I am new to droid and am not sure if I should ROOT my Droid X? (Thanks BirdMan). What will I gain if I root? Will i still be allowed to upgrade to froyo>?

    you can get froyo when its released via OTA but you will most likely lose root

    You're voiding your warranty, but only if they know the phone is rooted. It you had to return the phone for whatever reason, all you would need to do is a factory reset.

    What do we get out of Rooting the X at the present time since there are no roms and kernels available? There is really no point on rooting right this second correct? Or is there any reward for rooting at the present state?

    Themes and the ability to OC are right around the corner. Expanded HDMI capabilities will likely be worked on soon as well.
