Could the holster be causing some of our battery problems?

I noticed a sudden drop in battery life today. I haven't used it much, and it has stayed in the holster all day. I think it might be having a party in my holster. Seriously! The power button on my Droid is in constant contact with my holster's elastic band. I wonder if holster is activating my DX's screen when I'm not looking.

I'll go holster-less tomorrow, and report back. I'll try to duplicate my usage, including 5 minutes of forums, 2 photos, and one email (plus Pandora while docked in my car charger).

If it is magnetic it is probably triggering and keeping it in car dock mode. Cut the magnet out or get a new case.

Sorry I was busy, but yeah what he said... It is causing a party in your case AKA battery drain!

The results are in. After 2 days of similar usage and duration off the charger:

    Holstered day: 30% remaining
    Naked day: 70% remaining

Hmmm, very interesting. If you take out the magnet in the holster, let us know how much battery remaining when holstered for the day and similar usage as before. This will help identify the specific prob. Thanks.

Although the outside flap is magnetic, the inside of the case is shielded. I've put a paper clip inside, and it doesn't stick to the walls. I've also slid the phone around the inside of the case in every direction and can't get the magnet to activate the phone. Only when the phone is slid on the outside, where the magnet is strongest, does it activate. So, the magnet is NOT the problem.

However, I have found that the elastic band on the side does touch the power button. When the case is squeezed against your body (from seating positions, seat belts, general work) the button is pressed. It doesn't always happen, but I can reproduce it easily enough.
