Check for App Updates

I've been wondering this since day I picked up my D1, and my curiosity has carried over to my Droid X:

Is there a way to manually check for updates for the apps I've installed? I know you can see everything you have downloaded, but never really used that feature to see if it showed me when updates were available. It seems to me my phone randomly decides to tell me when I have available updates in the Market.

I like staying current with app updates, and being able to manually check for them would help me out a lot!

if you have any apps that need to be updated, once you click on downloads in the market, they would show at the top

i think the notification is set to only appear once a day

The 2.2 update will also bring a 'Automatic Update' feature and a 'Update All' feature. So no more checking 'Downloads' every chance you get.

isnt there a way to manually check for updates BEFORE the show up on that screen...used to be able to do that b4 the market update thanks
