    battery always read by 10%?

In ROM discussions people keep saying how the battery is only reading by 10% at a time but I am confused because ever sinceI've had my X from 1 it has done that. Is every one elses like this or am I the only one?

Yup, 10% intervals is the best you'll get.

Makes me jealous of my friend with an evo, cause I have to think how long that I've been at that percent so I could be in the high 30s and not need to charge for a while or be in low 30s where I need to charge soon

The Battery Left app provides information in increments of 1%. However, I'm not sure that the way it calculates the percentage and time left on the battery is all that accurate. I believe this is how it works. After you first install the app, you calibrate your battery by running it through an entire cycle until it's completely drained. Whatever that time is becomes 100%. Then it calculates percentage left in the future as a percentage of that 100% time figure. That will work if you use your phone in the same manner every day, but if you depart substantially from your "normal" usage on any given day (either more or less than average use), it could be off by quite a bit.

Actually if you are stock the battery notification icon goes from 0,10,20,40,60,80 and 100. The system still reads in increments of 10 until you get to 15. At that point it will read every 5 till 0. You can decompile framework and edit the xml so the notification bar will reflect the 10% and 5% readings.

Wait... let me test the 1% readings again to confirm this. The charging xml uses values like 29 so it seems it could read down to 1%.

EDIT: It appears I am correct. This might be able to be changed at a lower level which at this point is beyond my scope.

Don't be jealous. In fact, use his battery meter to measure yours. When he hits 30%, you should be ~60%. :-P
