    Tethering

The IT guy at work cut out all use of Microsoft Silverlight from their WiFi, so now I need to tether. I don't want to root my DX because I'm too nervous to mess something up. I want to know if there was a way I could use the internet off my phone for my laptop. I have the unlimited data and I was told that Verizon doesn't offer unlimited data for tethering, and since I'll be watching a lot of movies I have to have unlimited data. Also, is there a way for Verizon to find out? I don't care about paying for the tethering either. If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I've heard good things about FoxFi, its fairly new and doesn't require root. Its free and lots of good ratings for it....

There is a non root tethering app called FoxFi which turns on your hot spot capabilities. However there is a slim chance that Verizon can discover that you are tethering with out a plan. Especially if you start racking up a lot of data all the sudden.

I was nervous to root as well. But if tethering is all you will do then you won't break your phone. And in the extreme rare chance some thing does go bad you can sbf. (Brings back to stock). The x is essentially impossible to permanently brick
