Questions on flashing roms and sbfs
Hello. I have a Milestone X (Droid X). I have rooted it, backed up apps/settings with tibu, created a nandroid backup, and am now interested in flashing a custom rom.
Questions follow:
1. Is there a difference between roms and sbfs?
2. After installing a custom rom, will all of my applications work?
3. Are custom roms carrier specific (made for Verizon, etc.)?
4. If 3 is true, are there any roms safe to flash to a Milestone X with nTelos?
5. To go back to 'out of the box' settings, is all I have to do is flash a proper nTelos sbf file, then restore apps/settings from tibu?
6. Is a nandroid backup essentially the same as an sbf, or would I need to flash a proper sbf, root, then restore from recovery?
I think that will get me started. Btw, this forum is really the best!

I can answer 1 and 2
1 roms are operating systems made by users and there are many of them and sbf iis a file that's made by the carrier to take the phone back to total stock. And there are only a few
2 yes about 99.9% of your apps will work.

#5) to get back to out of box, perform a factory reset and then flash the appropriate sbf. Any apps that came pre installed will already be there.

There is a kernel check you can disable to install on other carriers
This is how your kernel version will/may vary

Sbf is a factory image. Or an out of the box like state. A Nandroid is a system snapshot when you made it. Think like a system restore point in Windows computers
If you sbf from a Rom you can restore a Nandroid to return to a previous state as long as you're rooted
And ninja'd as I was typing

Number 3 & 6...I think..
3...its more device specific I believe
6..yes a nandroid is in someway a way of not having to sbf....as its stock rooted...always nice to have...but there may be that time when you can't get in to restore...then sbf is necessary

So, what roms are available for my Milestone X? What are the most popular, and stable roms?
I was wanting to flash CyanogenMod, but have found (in the last 30 minutes) that there isn't a stable release for the Droid X yet.

Anyone? Liberty? CM? MIUI? Also, is it possible to flash custom themes without flashing a ROM?

So which one is more stable? Have you flashed either of them?

As far as Stable...
Awesome Choices...
Miui 1.12.9
Apex RC4
Liberty 3
Flashing them correctly is Key to Stabilty or any ROM for that matter...
