How do I tell if rooted?
I have a Motorola droid x and I ran Z4root. Then I downloaded and installed SetCPU, which indicated that the CPU was not rooted. So how can I tell if the CPU has been rooted independently.
As you can tell I am a novice to all of this and would appreciate any information you can give me.

Fitst goto hard menu>settings>about phone...what's your version?
Next you can check your app drawer to see if you have an app called superuser

if your on gingerbread(which i'm thinking you are)... z4 wound't have worked... which is why it said you're not rooted... if you were... it'd pop up asking for super user permission...
use the one click method here to obtain root

If you want a confirmation that you are rooted, get Root Checker from the market, it'll let you know.
