    [How To] Installing Custom Keyboards

I've decided to post a tutorial on how to make and install custom keyboards for your DX. You do not need any custom ROMS to be able to do this.

    Go to http://www.gimpsta.com/themer/htcime.php
    Select your version
Proceed to customize key types, colors, space bar pictures, etc.
after you have finished, complete it and download.

Now that you've downloaded it , move it to your desktop, unzip it (Extract All)
You will see the .apk file in the folder.
Plug in your phone to your PC
Pull down the notification bar on your phone and click on "USB Connections"
    Select "USB Mass Storage"
Wait for a few seconds, then you should be able to open up "Removable Storage" under My Computer on your PC.
Open it up and drag the HTC_IME mod .apk to that directory (Anywhere in the window, NOT in any folders.)
Once transfered, pull down your notification bar again and click usb connections once more and this time select "charge only"
Give it a few seconds, then open up file manager - it's the app called "Files" in your app drawer.
Once open, click on "Phone Files" then scroll down until you find the HTC_IME mod .apk then click and install.
Once installed open up settings on your phone then click Languages and Keyboard
Look in the middle of the settings and you will see HTC_IME mod check the box
then go up a little and click on "Input" and select HTC_IME and thats it!

Thanks wicked for the help on this, if you have any questions, just ask. (will post screenshots in the morning for any that still need help.)

Which file manager are you using? Stock or astro? If you downloaded your keyboard apk to your phone, it will be in the folder named downloads. Astro is free in the market & maybe a bit more functional than the stock file manager...

+1 to ASTRO. Whatever you download off the market will automatically be in your download folder.
