I see everyone saying they sync their music from their computer to their phone. If I choose to sync, it's incredibly slow. But, if I copy a cong, it takes about 3 seconds to transfer and works perfectly on the phone. Yes, I do get the error message that my phone may not be able to display it (or something), but it's not been an issue.
What is the benefit of a sync and what am I missing?

There is probably no true benefit unless like you said it becomes an issue with the error msg where the file is not supported or cannot be played / displayed....
Sync allows you to use a program to interface the music between devices while copy is the drag/drop method from one folder to another...or at least that is how I see it...
