Yeah I did everything you did. But when you say you put the movie on windows media playeron the sync side I'm not following you there. Do you have to move it to the windows media player in a certain way? I just synched my X to windows media then looked through my library in the media player chose inception and hit synch. Do I need to move the portable version on my computer to the windows player a different way maybe? Thanks for your help.

I've been looking in to this myself and have found some conflicting info. Please clarify if someone is getting this to work.
I have a good many movies on my computer, no DRM of course.
Most are not optimised for play on the X, and I would just like to know what format to convert them to and what the best paramaters would be. A good player would also be bonus, as I have tried numerous and not had much luck. I might just be using the wrong settings, or conversion software. I'm using Total Video Converter.

Im using rockplayer.no conversion required and plays 90% of movies. Just drag and drop

Good example i have is a copy of the matrix. It's about 2GB in size. Mp4 format. If i just copy and paste it takes forever. When i play it is all scrunched in the middle of the screen. I have tried resizing and different formats and nothing seems to work. The movie was originally a blue ray, but i think it may have been scaled down a bit. I can dig into the properties a lil deeper if anyone has some input.

Check the "full-screen" link in my signature, which explains everything with screenshots.

I see this is an old thread, hoping someone still finds it. I'm trying to get a Disney digital copy onto my X2. Activated the copy on my laptop, chose WMP. When I try to sync it to the Droid, the sync fails in windows media player. Anyone have more suggestions?
