Ah, I see. The Real HDMI app will need to be kept running in the background in order for it to work. I have system app which allows me to manually kill app.. I am not sure if it does automatically but I doubt it. So I have to leave the programing running then try to find a way to get back to the main screen?

Hey gman, thanks a lot! You've just helped make my tailgate a much more enjoyable place to be this football season! Everything works great for me. FYI, for you and anyone else interested, I have the Slingbox slingplayer App and it works great. Messing around with the aspect ratio in the app and using the stretch feature on my tv gets everything to fill about 90% of my screen...not too shabby. Unfortunately, my 3G connection isn't strong enough to pull in the HD broadcast, but none the less, Amazing!

This program has a conflict with any home switcher... I think! I am not sure... I could be wrong.

The question is, when im done with real HDMI and I want to see what my main screen looks like via HDMI. Would I press the back button, home button or what?
Secondly, Droid via HDMI is aligned center to my screen, its not full screen FYI.
1) No, when I hit enabled and the try to go back to the main menu, it would crash. Do I have to re-orientate? I will try it out.
2) Then reason why I want to go back is because I want to see what it looks like on my screen seeing the main menu.
3) Okay.
4) Okay.
So if you enable HDMI you should be able to hit the HOME button to get back to your home screen or can hold the home button to bring up the small menu that shows last 6 apps run, and select from there. Hitting back button will just close the Real HDMI app. The back button in Android is really a close button, it calls the Finish() method on a visible window telling it to close. Eventually will override that in the app, but for now want to leave that in as a safety.
Applications that use "fill_parent" (including my app) for their size layout will always limit themselves to 852x480 (size of initial screen) as their parent window is bound to that size. This is why you see stuff centered on your tv. If an application is intellegent enough to call functions to determine screen size they use the full 1280x720. VideoViews and SurfaceViews in Android by default will use the full screen if they where initiated correctly. Some time this week am going to be posting a "howto" in the hacks section (or maybe here in another thread) that is going to be a guide for developers to quick fixes for application sizing to make their apps use the full realestate of the screen.

Yeah right now the app has to stay running as it has to keep the HDMI interface up and working. Version 2 of the app is going to include a service that does this. So app will start the service and then send on/off messages to the service. So app won't have to stay running. Its much harder to kill a bad behaved service if you can't see your screen. So for this initial release I left it all in an app that needs to stay running. If all goes well should have rev 2 with the service stuff out in a week or so.

Bug Reports:
To make is easier on me when you guys are reporting a bug can you please include the following info:
Android Version: Stock 2.1 or Leaked Froyo 2.2
Task Killers: Are you running any auto task killers?
Rooted?: Is phone rooted?
App Version?: menu button->about (near top of screen)
And when you are reporting a crash or anomoly, please include as much detail as possible.
Such as if you are running a non-stock home screen, was HDMI enabled or disabled at the time, did you switch screen orientation at the time, what button did you push when it died, etc....
The more detail you give me the faster I can get fixes knocked out. If I don't have enough information to be able to duplicate it, makes it really hard to fix.

Android Version: Leaked Froyo 2.2
Task Killers: System (manually kill apps)
Rooted?: Is phone rooted? No.
That should help, and it would be nice if I can put it on my avatar to the left.. easier said than done.

How to I force Droid to show fullscreen? Not just any apps, just Droid home screen, thanks.
And also, are you a coder? I am too. Been doing Java OOP for some time, pretty good programmer. Where do I find info on how to program for Android? This is off topic, sorry.

Youtube in HQ is showing black UI line ... thickness varies - this only happens when it's in HQ mode. That's it.
