    basically the power/energy it takes to close them and add that to the app. starting itself up again in the background suckin your battery juice no sooner than you close it is basically a waste of time, energy and effort IMHO.

    so then what is the best way to kill apps? even using a task killer right after i kill an app it just starts right back up... there are many apps i don't need to be riunning in the background all the time... many apps i might use to look something up and that's it, i'd prefer to be able to do that and then not have to worry about it using my battery and ram...

    You're wasting battery and time trying to kill apps. Resource management was built into Android from Froyo on. Don't waste your time or money on apps that promise to save your battery and let the OS handle it. If something is truly misbehaving, uninstall it.
