Non-root Tether Apps Work! :)

According to this post, Easy Tether has been tested and works on the Droid X. This most likely means that other apps such as PdaNet and Azilink will also work! Thanks, clubtech!

Ok so I have never tethered, so you can tether through some of these apps for free? Like I know some have an app fee(for buying the app). But after that it is free. And Verizon cannot charge you anything??

Correct. And it is arguably illegal for them to charge you for tethering. They can, however, cancel your service if they deem that you are causing problems for their network. So don't install a torrent client and download/upload data 24/7 on it. That'll surely get you booted! :P

So no Vuze(or another applicable client) for my cell hahaha. I dont think i would have much use for it unless I was up at my hubbys grandparents house!!

But for browesing it should not be a *big* issue!!! lol

Pretty much. I have tethered and downloaded over 1GB in a night, but that is pretty rare. I just like to have the option to do that when it's absolutely necessary. And for me, it sometimes is (maybe a couple times a year).

Yeah it would be nice to have, like I said, at my hubbys grandparents house. I go to school part-time and go year round and it would be nice to not have to travel into town and find a caribou(or Starbucks now) so I can upload my homework and turn it in.

Similar situation with me but work related. When I'll need this is when I'm at a hotel with wifi and it doesn't actually work (seems to happen a third of the time). Also good when I'm somewhere else and wifi breaks. I was actually at a Microsoft office (not the productivity suite) all weekend and their wifis broke. Luckily I could tether for us off of my G1.

I use mine to play ps3 every now and then. After a few hours of play it is only like 200mb or so. Not an issue.
