    Best Task Killer?

So I've been using Advanced Task Killer. I can't find a reason to switch but I read threads that indicate it's not as good as other task killers?

Basically the reason I like it is I can manually select what apps are killable overall, then I can just tap the widget on my phone to kill all tasks that are running and killable. It's a manual method and I believe the reason people use other task killers is automation?

So sell me, what's better and why?

They're all bad. Androidology (& Android OS Memory Management [task killers])

    There isn't a good one... they're counter-intuitive to Android's design.

I will say, while the information and consensus is overwhelming regarding NOT USING a task killer... the best course for YOU is to read the information available and decide for yourself.

ie. uninstall the task killer for a few days and see how battery life, performance, etc goes for you.

While I believe it's placebo effect (something's installed so it must be doing something) there are some who swear they see improvement using task killers.
So in your best interest, make the decision for yourself... but be educated about it

    Good luck!

I thought I'd chime in on this. "Automated" task killers are bad. However, there are times when a manual task killer is necessary to kill an app that has gotten into a bad state. This isn't often but it does happen every now and then. I use "Android System Info" for this.

I dont use one... have a lot of apps, launcherpro, spare parts, and profile set to performance. moderate use for facebook and texting, upload all kinds of pics, and am at 19 hours of battery life. 30 percent remaining. unrooted and my phone flys.

The automated portion is definitely BAD NEWS. It's working against how Android is designed.

As far as an individual instance... these do happen, and this would be the only time to use a task killer... an app only adds convenience over the native task management (since the native option is in Menu > Settings > applications > Manage applications > then you select the app not responding...)

I do not believe in a task killer set to aggressively kill apps - I do however, have the app SystemPanel installed which is the dev that is mentioned in Androidology article...the app itself offers so much more than "task killing" and you can monitor system performance and in the paid version use it for app backup...

Failure isn't falling down, failure is staying down.
