I know several people that use the 3500 mah extended battery with the otterbox defender. It does require a little modification. You have to dremel a hole in the hard case to allow the battery to fit through, but when the silicon cover is installed you cant see the hole or the larger battery.
I got the case that glshub posted a link to. It's pretty nice. It's a little loose on the sides and the volume buttons are a little hard to get to but all in all for $15 its a good deal. It's a rubber case but has a nice feel to it.

I have had my case about a month now. I honestly thought, the way it fit, it would become loose after a while. It hasn't. I have to take ut off every time I do a battery pull, which is the only way to completely charge the 3500 battery. It still fits tight and is holding up well.
I would like to have a thicker case that provides more damage control for people like me that have fumble fingers.
I would go with the otterbox if it would fit my battery. Maybe someday there will be a case that meets my needs. The 3500s are here to stay and surely someone will make one.
