How to add a bootsound to CyanogenMod

So, this is the way that I added a bootsound to CM6 and CM7 when I had it on my Huawei Ascend. It should work regardless of what phone it's on because CyanogenMod has the files to make this method possible.
You'll be messing with system files so if you do it wrong or you do it right and it causes a bootloop (it really shouldn't) don't blame me.
Your bootsound can be played all the way up to the lockscreen. Thanks for testing that out for me jcoll81! [he's from another site] (so I'd say that's about 20 seconds long?)

Anyway, here are the files that you will need to edit/add:
    build.prop - /system
    init.local.rc - /system/etc
    bootsound - /system/bin
    android_audio.mp3 - /data/local

So you need to do four things to make this work..
1: Add these lines to your build.prop file -

    Code:
    ### Safe to Delete: Start ###
    ro.config.play.bootsound=1
    ### Safe to Delete: End ###
    2: Add lines in init.local.rc -
    Code:
    ###Bootsound - Safe to Delete: Start ###

    service bootsound /system/bin/bootsound
    user media
    group audio
    disabled
    oneshot

on property:init.svc.bootanim=running # to correct timing
            start bootsound

    on property:dev.bootcomplete=1
            stop bootsound
    ### Bootsound - Safe to Delete: End ###
3: Add the file 'bootsound' from below to /system/bin

    4: Add any .mp3 named "android_audio.mp3" to /data/local
(I'll attach one to let you see how it works, it's the droid sound that I used before.)

Note 1: Add all of those lines to the bottom of the files. I guess you might not have to, but why not do what we know works.

Note 2: Check if every line is correct, multiple times. If it's off by even one character it won't work.

All files are included in the zip, but I don't recommend using the build.prop because sometimes the devs change them a little bit. Just use it as a reference I guess. It's safe to just replace the init.local.rc though.

So if this doesn't work for you, please try again before saying that it doesn't work, because I know for a fact that it does.

Dammit I just looked at the text and some of the character didn't get aligned correctly.. I'll fix them in a little while.
    Edit: Fixed it.

The only thing you can do is edit the audio itself. I don't think you can control how loud anything plays while it's booting up.

    volume

sure you can..increase the notification volume of your phone to d highest...that should do the trick..cause most times when I turn down d volume of my android, I hardly hear d boot sound

Tried with CM10.2, does not seem to work (one issue is that originally there was no init.local.rc). My question: does this still apply to CM10?

    Same for CM11

Can someone please update it to work for CM11 (this too does not have a init.local.rc)...

No one here deals with programming Cyanogen. Your best bet would be to go to their Website.
