This is a basic review for the Droid X "Pouch" carrying case. It is named "Custom Horizontal Leather Case" on the Verizon Wireless website, which you can see here (http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessory?action=accessoryDetails&archetypeId=12207). It currently retails for $24.99. The stock photo:

It is a well-crafted leather pouch that your Droid X simply slides into, held securely by a magnetic closure. It has a sturdy rotating belt-clip on the back (not detachable) that secures the pouch to wherever it is attached. Stamped into the front of the pouch is the Verizon logo.

Note: This pouch can activate the Car/Multimedia mode if inserted the wrong way. I have included some pictures below to guide you. This will make it an easy case to use without having to remove magnets or install some silly app to override the magnetic sensor inside.

The trick to this case is that magnets do not create a big enough magnetic field for the DX to pick up until the case is closed. The DX will pick up on this only from the backside of the phone, not the display side. So, as long as the phone is always slid in with the screen facing towards the magnet, there is never a problem!

Shows the case in relation to the phone.

The phone on top of the case. Notice that due to the sensor being on the backside of the DX, it picks up the magnets and switches to Car/Multimedia mode.

Here is the phone as it should be inserted.

Success! The DX doesn't pick up the magnets on the case.

Here is the phone as it should NOT be inserted.

Putting the phone in this way lets the DX pick up on the magnets and switches the Car/Multimedia mode on, turning on the screen and slowly ticking away at the time left on your battery.

Overall, I love this case, as it has a solid feel to it, looks professional, and is quite durable from the everyday bumps and bruises you would expect your phone to get. I like the fact that I can hold the phone as is without a shell around it, as the shell of the Droid X has a wonderful feel to it. After looking at all the cases at my Verizon store, including ones at BestBuy and other stores, this made me the happiest.

Ive been carrying mine screen in for a month and have not had any problems activating the media dock. The magnets are not in the correct location in the case. the lower side of the X needs be be about an inch out from the side for the magnets to allign.

I've used this case since I got my DX on 8/3 and I love it!! Never had any problem with the screen activating no matter how I put the phone in.

I've had this case since launch as well and am happy with it.
I might pick up a silicone shell for the phone, so it fits a bit more snug.
And i too put the phone in face-in and have never had problems with the magnet or dock mode getting activated... maybe yours has an esp. strong magnet?

Great review, I have a similar case and put the X in screen first with no issues with it going into dock mode

I suppose this could be the case. I have played around with it to see that sometimes it doesn't activate the Car mode with the screen inwards, but if I press it a bit it will. It is possible that these magnets are stronger, as with anything that is produced, sometimes the supply of materials change.

At any rate, screen in or out, the case has a delicate interior that protects the phone well. I also have the Droid X brand screen shield to ward away scratches. :)

I just found this thread via a Google search.

Inserting the phone with the screen facing outward, away from my hip, resolved the problem I was having.

Has anyone used this pouch that already has a Verizon or Seidio case on their phone? Wondering if there would be room enough in the pouch.

FWIW I bought this case and immediately returned it. It didn't matter how I put the phone in it would always open the car dock and drain the battery. I guess the one I bought had an especially strong magnet in it.
